A DEXA (dual energy x-ray absorptiometry) is used to assess a patients risk of fracture due to osteoporosis or thinning of the bones. This fast noninvasive test takes ten minutes to perform and uses a minimal amount of low-energy x-rays passed through the hip and spine to identify bone mineral loss. At WDI, we have the technology to perform lateral spine images to assess for compression fractures of the thoracic and lumbar spine.
